System Equipment Sites
About every 80 km the laser light travelling down the optical fibre has to be amplified.
The equipment needed to make this possible is housed in buildings provided by GasLINE along
the entire backbone network. These amplifier stations are designed specifically for the installation
of telecommunication technology.
At these sites, the GasLINE customers can lease individual rooms or rack space to install their equipment.
Thanks to the stations' modular design, specific customer requests regarding the size and location/positioning
of racks can be implemented. The customers can connect their equipment to a redundant power supply system offering
different voltage levels. Air conditioning units are installed to ensure a constant room temperature. In the event
of a local mains failure, an emergency generator provides the necessary power backup until the local utility has restored its service.
Maximum operational safety and constant availability are central to GasLINE's telemonitored system equipment locations. Both is
guaranteed at all times thanks to an alarm signalling system, an emergency centre manned around the clock by specially trained staff,
24-hour on-call repair crews and a local security service.
Our Safety Philosophy
